Loggia dei Lanzi

The Loggia dei Lanzi is identified by its three massive, open arches that frame a collection of Renaissance and Roman sculptures on the edge of the Piazza della Signoria. Built between thirteen seventy-six and thirteen eighty-two by architects Benci di Cione and Simone di Francesco Talenti, this structure was intended to provide a sheltered, dignified space for the official assemblies and public ceremonies of the Florentine Republic.
