The Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands consists of a network of boardwalks winding through eight distinct environmental zones, which range from lowland marshes to high-altitude alpine gardens. Situated at six hundred and fifty meters above sea level in the Sengokuhara highlands, this site opened in nineteen seventy-six to preserve and exhibit thousands of varieties of marsh and alpine plants native to Japan.
