Takamahiko Shrine is defined by a row of centuries-old cedar trees that form a natural, branch-roofed hallway leading to the grounds. Tucked at the base of Mount Kongo, the shrine has no central building to house its deity. Instead, the wooded hill rising directly behind the site, known as Mount Shirakumo, serves as the sacred body of the god. This practice of worshiping the mountain itself is one of the oldest traditions in Shinto, marking the site as a location of deep, ancient connection to the landscape.
