The Hotel New Otani Tokyo reveals itself through a sprawling complex of interconnected towers anchored by a distinctive seventeen-story building, once the tallest in the city. When it opened in September nineteen sixty-four, just before the Tokyo Summer Olympics, the structure drew attention for its circular high-rise design and a revolutionary revolving restaurant at its summit. This restaurant, then a symbol of a rapidly modernizing Japan, was commissioned by founder Yonetaro Otani to ensure every international guest could enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Fuji.
