The Shibaura area is defined by the massive white towers and suspension cables of the Rainbow Bridge, which connects this shore to the Odaiba waterfront. Stretching seven hundred ninety-eight meters across Tokyo Bay, the structure is officially known as the Tokyo Port Bridge. Construction began in nineteen eighty-seven and finished in nineteen ninety-three, a period when the surrounding district was transitioning from a gritty hub of freight railways and warehouses into a residential waterfront.
