Yatsuyama Bridge is a steel overpass spanning a dense, multi-layered junction of train lines just south of Shinagawa Station. The current bridge, completed in nineteen eighty-five, serves as the fourth iteration at this site, which historically marked the northern entrance to the Shinagawa-juku post town on the old Tokaido highway. The name Yatsuyama, or eight hills, recalls the undulating terrain that once defined this area before the massive land reclamation and modernization projects that reshaped the coastline.
