Thambula Temple is a square structure, elevated on a plinth, with porches extending from all four sides. Built in twelve fifty-five, this temple is set apart from many of the other larger pagodas in the region. Above the square base, it features a series of receding terraces topped by a curvilinear spire. Delicate stucco work ornaments the exterior, while the interior is known for its mural paintings.
