Rudra Varna Mahavihar , Oku Bahal

Rudra Varna Mahavihar, often called Uku Bahal, announces itself with a distinct entrance gate topped by two large stone lions. These figures, added in sixteen eighty, carry flags and contrast with the traditional Newari architecture that surrounds them. The monastery itself dates to the sixth century, founded by the Lichhavi King Shivadeva, who once famously retired here to live as a monk.
