The Beyerskameren are a row of twelve small houses built in fifteen ninety-seven, identifiable by a central gate topped with a stone plaque. This inscription honors the founders, Adriaen Beyer and his wife Alet Jansdogter, who commissioned the homes to provide shelter for the city’s poor. The doorway leads to what was once the regent’s room, the place where the officials governing the complex met to manage the charity.
