The storefront at Schweigaards gate fifty-six is a cramped, unassuming space known for its floor-to-ceiling shelves packed with vinyl, cassettes, and metal memorabilia. While it operates as a record shop, the building is globally recognized as the former site of Helvete, a shop opened in nineteen ninety-one by Øystein Aarseth, the guitarist of the band Mayhem known as Euronymous. This location served as the original headquarters for the early Norwegian black metal scene, acting as a gathering place for the musicians who formed the Black Circle.
