The Qurum Natural Reserve is a coastal wetland dominated by dense, green forests of grey mangrove trees that thrive in the salty tidal channels along the edge of Muscat. Established by a royal decree in nineteen seventy-five, the reserve protects the estuary and former delta of Wadi Aday. Its name, Qurum, comes from the local term for these resilient trees, which are the only mangrove species adapted to the Omani climate.
