Royal Opera House Muscat

cultural

The Royal Opera House Muscat is recognized by its pale, locally quarried limestone exterior and a design that evokes a modern Omani palace, complete with high, arched entryways and decorative wooden screens. Commissioned in two thousand one by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the building was envisioned as a center to bridge Omani heritage with international arts. It officially opened in October two thousand eleven, becoming the first opera house on the Arabian Peninsula.
