The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda is a seven-story brick structure that rises in a square, tapering silhouette, resembling a cone against the sky. Located within the Da Ci’en Temple complex, it was built in six hundred fifty-two during the Tang Dynasty to house the Buddhist scriptures and relics brought back from India by the monk Xuanzang. He spent seventeen years traveling across the Silk Road before overseeing the construction of this pagoda to protect the texts he had collected.
