The Tibet Museum is identifiable by its L-shaped building, which combines traditional Tibetan architectural elements, like fluted roofs and dark trim, with a modern, sprawling layout on Norbulingka Road. As the region’s largest and first major modern museum, it opened in nineteen ninety-nine to house hundreds of thousands of artifacts gathered from across the Tibetan Plateau.
