Guozhuang is defined by its white walls and dark tiles, which enclose a classical Jiangnan garden on the western shore of West Lake. Known as the Number One Garden of West Lake, it creates a sense of vastness through its clever use of borrowed scenery, where lattice windows frame views of the surrounding lake and distant mountains as if they were hanging scrolls.
