The Bolognesi Bridge is a heavy stone structure spanning the Chili River, easily identified by the series of semi-circular arches that support its long, weathered deck. Built entirely from white volcanic sillar stone, it is one of the oldest crossings in Arequipa. Work on the project began in fifteen seventy-seven under the architect Juan de Aldana and dragged on for over three decades, finally reaching completion in sixteen oh eight.
