The Royal Baths, or Łazienki Królewskie, is a seventy-six hectare park and palace complex distinguished by the Palace on the Isle, which rests directly upon an artificial lake. Originally, this ground was a hunting forest for the Dukes of Mazovia, but in the late seventeenth century, the Grand Vice-Chancellor Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski commissioned a private Baroque bathhouse here. The name of the entire park derives from this single pavilion.
