Our Lady of the Mount Viewpoint

viewpoint

The Miradouro da Senhora do Monte is distinguished by its position as the highest viewpoint in Lisbon. It occupies the summit of the hill traditionally associated with Saint Gens, an early bishop of the city. A small, white chapel, the Capela de Nossa Senhora do Monte, stands at the square’s edge. While the original chapel dates back to the thirteenth century, the current structure was built in seventeen ninety-six following the destruction of its predecessor in the seventeen fifty-five earthquake.
