Catherine Gate is the only original medieval city gate remaining in Brașov. You can identify it by the four small, pointed turrets that crown its central tower, surrounding a taller, central spire. Built in fifteen fifty-nine by the Tailors' Guild, the structure replaced an earlier gate destroyed by a flood. Its name honors Saint Catherine’s Monastery, which stood on this site in previous centuries.
