Faculty of Applied Arts

The Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade sits as a cornerstone of Serbian art education, marking the evolution of design and craftsmanship from late nineteenth-century workshops into modern academic study. Its origins trace back to eighteen ninety-five, when Kiril Kutlik established the Serbian School of Drawing and Painting to provide technical training for local craftsmen. This early effort to elevate trade skills evolved through various institutions, including the Arts and Crafts School founded in nineteen oh five, before the formal Secondary School of Applied Arts emerged in nineteen thirty-eight under the guidance of figures like sculptor Milan Nedeljković and architect Đorđe Krekić.
