Palau Dalmases is marked by the distinct Baroque architecture of its courtyard and the spiraling, salomonic columns that line its grand staircase. Tucked away on the historic Carrer Montcada, this building emerged from a long-dilapidated structure that was heavily damaged during the sixteen ninety-seven siege of Barcelona. In sixteen ninety-eight, the merchant Pau Dalmases Castells purchased the site and oversaw its transformation into a residence reflecting his family’s rise from laborers to nobility.
