Pasai Donibane, or San Juan, is defined by its single, narrow, cobbled street that runs parallel to the water, where colourful houses with wooden balconies are squeezed into the small space between the steep slopes of Mount Jaizkibel and the bay. This fishing village is famous for its bridge-houses, which arch over the street to create covered passages, and for its long maritime tradition of building whaling and fishing ships.
