Methodist Church

The Methodist Church sits within the walls of Galle Fort, an area with a long history of colonial settlement. While many buildings in this part of the city reflect the heavy influence of the Dutch era, the Methodist presence here arrived later, following the British takeover of the coastal territories. This particular house of worship was established in eighteen nineteen, five years after the first Wesleyan Methodist missionaries reached the shores of Ceylon.
