The Red House

The Red House is a two-story, red-brick structure that is easy to spot because of its unusual octagonal entrance hall. Built in nineteen oh eight during the Japanese colonial period, it was designed by architect Kondo Juro as Taiwan's first government-constructed public market. The building’s floor plan is distinctive, featuring this octagonal front section connected to a cruciform structure at the rear, a layout that was inspired by the design of eight trigrams.
