The Casbah Coffee Club is tucked into the cellar of a Victorian villa at eight Haymans Green, identifiable by its unassuming residential exterior in the West Derby area. While the rest of the world knows the Cavern Club, this basement venue served as the original stomping ground where the musicians who became the Beatles truly found their footing. It opened on August twenty-ninth, nineteen fifty-nine, after the owner, Mona Best, decided to transform her family’s coal storage into a space for her sons and their friends to listen to music.
