The Liverpool Loop Line is a wide, flat, traffic-free path carved through a deep, tree-lined cutting that carries cyclists and walkers through the eastern edge of the city. Stretching eleven miles from Halewood to Aintree, this green corridor runs along the bed of the former North Liverpool Extension Line, a railway that was abandoned by British Rail in nineteen sixty-four.
