The O2 is a massive, tent-like structure on the Greenwich Peninsula, instantly recognizable by its twelve bright yellow masts that rise one hundred meters into the air. This building was originally constructed as the Millennium Dome to house a government-backed exhibition celebrating the start of the twenty-first century. It opened on New Year’s Eve in nineteen ninety-nine, but the project quickly faced public controversy due to its high costs and lower-than-expected visitor numbers.
