El Sereno Open Space Preserve rises from the rolling foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the two-thousand-five-hundred-foot summit of Mount El Sereno. This sixteen-hundred-fourteen-acre landscape is characterized by exposed, sun-drenched chaparral slopes and high-elevation meadows. It acts as a backdrop to the towns of Los Gatos and Monte Sereno, with the latter named directly for the mountain itself.
