Eat'n Park is a Pittsburgh-area restaurant chain currently headquartered here in Homestead. While the company operates dozens of locations today, its origins trace back to nineteen forty-nine, when founders Larry Hatch and Bill Peters opened a small, thirteen-seat drive-in on Saw Mill Run Boulevard. That first site featured ten carhops who delivered meals directly to customers in their automobiles. The novelty was so immediate that the restaurant sparked a major traffic jam on its opening day and had to close briefly to adjust its operations.
