Zilker Metropolitan Park

park garden

Zilker Metropolitan Park is defined by its vast, open green space set against the convergence of Barton Creek and the Colorado River. Spanning over three hundred and fifty acres, this expanse provides a landscape of rolling lawns and wooded bluffs that anchor the southern edge of downtown Austin. The park exists as a public legacy of Andrew Jackson Zilker, a local businessman who operated an ice-making factory nearby and donated the land to the city in a series of gifts between nineteen seventeen and nineteen thirty-one.
