Seven human figures crouch in a kneeling posture at the intersection of Allen Parkway and Montrose Boulevard. Each of these ten-foot-tall sculptures is composed of a stainless steel mesh framework, formed from an intricate, random collection of letters and characters from nine different alphabets including Latin, Arabic, Greek, and Hindi. The figures rest upon individual, rough-cut granite boulders that the Spanish artist Jaume Plensa personally selected in Spain before they were shipped to Houston for the installation.
