The Cementerio Museo San Pedro is recognizable by its expansive collection of white Carrara marble mausoleums and statues imported from Italy. Established in eighteen forty-two by the elite of the Villa de la Candelaria, the site was long known as the White City because of this abundant stone. It serves as a final resting place for prominent Colombian figures and contains a chapel designed by the Belgian architect Agustín Goovaerts.
