The Jardín Botánico de Medellín is defined by a massive, repeating wooden canopy known as the Orquideorama. This architectural centerpiece consists of ten hexagonal, flower-tree structures that rise sixty-five feet into the air, creating a meshwork that shelters orchid collections and butterfly reserves. The garden itself covers thirty-four acres and holds over one thousand species of living plants.
