The Church of St. Jerome sits on the southern slopes of Marjan Hill, tucked under the branches of pines above the Kašuni cove. It is a stone building, often marked by the proximity of the hermitage caves carved directly into the limestone rock face behind it. These caves once provided shelter for hermit monks who lived in isolation on the hillside during the fifteenth century.
