Loreto

The Loreto in Prague is defined by its expansive, decorative Baroque façade and a prominent clock tower that houses a twenty-seven-bell carillon. This pilgrimage site, founded in sixteen twenty-six by the noblewoman Kateřina of the Lobkowicz family, centers on the Santa Casa, a replica of the Holy House in Nazareth said to have been transported by angels to Italy. The shrine is surrounded by cloisters and chapels, and the site remains under the care of the neighboring Capuchin monks who have maintained the complex since its inception.
