St. Nicholas Church (Malá Strana)

St. Nicholas Church is defined by a massive green copper dome and a towering belfry that dominate the skyline of the Lesser Town. Construction of this structure began in seventeen oh four under the architect Christoph Dientzenhofer and reached completion in seventeen fifty-five under his son, Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer. The Jesuits intended for the building to project the authority of the Catholic Church, replacing a smaller thirteenth-century Gothic parish church that once occupied the site.
