The Temple of Satet sits on the southern end of Elephantine Island, characterized by a series of foundation layers that mark three thousand years of continuous religious activity. This site began around thirty-two hundred BCE as a small shrine tucked into a natural niche between three granite boulders, dedicated to Satet, the goddess who personified the annual flooding of the Nile.
