The Papeteries - Image Factory features a modern glass roof connecting two original industrial halls along the banks of the Thiou river. This site functioned as the Papeteries Aussedat, a paper mill that operated for two centuries starting in the early nineteenth century. Antoine Aussedat founded the factory, utilizing techniques from the Montgolfier family mills, and the site once used water from the Thiou to power a major industrial center. By the time the machines stopped in two thousand six, the mill had housed massive paper-producing technology and the manufacture of punched cards for early data processing.
