The Port de l'Embouchure is defined by the Ponts-Jumeaux, or Twin Bridges, a set of arched stone spans that mark the meeting point of three major waterways. This basin serves as the junction where the Canal du Midi, the Canal de Brienne, and the Canal de Garonne converge. It functioned as a critical exchange point for centuries, allowing heavy cargo to move between the river and the canal system that connected the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.
