Les Abattoirs

museum

Les Abattoirs is a sprawling, nineteenth-century industrial structure on the left bank of the Garonne River that stands out for its long, symmetrical, and vaulted halls. Once the municipal slaughterhouse of Toulouse, the brick building functioned in that capacity from eighteen twenty-three until its closure in nineteen eighty-eight. Today, the repurposed space holds a museum of modern and contemporary art and the regional contemporary art collection for Occitanie.
