The Hôtel de Clary is distinguished by a rare and imposing facade built entirely of white stone, a material that sharply contrasts with the traditional red brick architecture dominant throughout Toulouse. Known locally as the Hôtel de Pierre, or the Stone Mansion, the structure stands at twenty-five Rue de la Dalbade. While the building originated in the sixteenth century under Jean de Bagis and architect Nicolas Bachelier, its unique exterior was commissioned by François de Clary in the early seventeenth century.
