Le Capitole

The Capitole stands out for its massive, one hundred and thirty-five meter long neoclassical facade, built from the characteristic pink brick of Toulouse. Since eleven ninety, this site has served as the municipal headquarters, originally commissioned by the Capitouls, the magistrates who governed the city. The name itself stems from a fifteen twenty-two effort to link the city’s administration to the grandeur of Rome.
