The Holy Trinity Cathedral, known locally as Sameba, is defined by its massive central dome and the golden cross atop it, which are visible from nearly every part of Tbilisi. Standing on Elia Hill in the Avlabari district, this cathedral is the primary seat of the Georgian Orthodox Church. Its design by architect Archil Mindiashvili synthesizes traditional Georgian ecclesiastical styles into a structure that reaches over one hundred meters in total height from its foundation.
