Liberty square

landmark

Liberty Square is marked by a forty-meter-tall column topped with a gilded bronze statue of Saint George slaying a dragon. This monument, designed by Zurab Tsereteli and unveiled in two thousand six, stands at the center of the city’s most significant public space. Before this pillar and statue were installed, the site hosted a large monument to Lenin that was removed in nineteen ninety-one following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
