The Ancient Theatre of Delos sits in the heart of what archaeologists call the theatre district, a cluster of streets and workshops once central to the island's urban life. You can identify the site by its large, semicircular stone seating area, which opens out toward the harbor and the sea. Construction of this stone structure began shortly after three hundred fourteen before the common era and took seventy years to finish, replacing an earlier version made of wood.
