The Arulmigu Sri Parthasarathyswamy Temple in the Triplicane neighborhood is defined by the prominent gopurams, or temple towers, that rise above the surrounding urban landscape of Chennai. Originally constructed by the Pallava dynasty between the sixth and eighth centuries, this site is one of the oldest structures in the city. It is classified as one of the one hundred and eight Divya Desams, which are holy abodes of Lord Vishnu honored in the early medieval Tamil hymns of the Alvar saints.
