Ram Bagh is recognized as the oldest Mughal garden in India, established by the emperor Babur in fifteen twenty-six. You can identify the site by the colossal red sandstone walls that enclose the grounds, punctuated by corner towers crowned with pillared pavilions. Designed in the tradition of a Persian paradise garden, the space is organized across three descending terraces that once funneled water from the Yamuna River through a series of stone canals, cascades, and tanks.
