Itmad-ud-Daula

historic

The Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula is defined by its delicate, square form and pristine white marble facade, which stands in stark contrast to the red sandstone monuments that preceded it. Built between sixteen twenty-two and sixteen twenty-eight, this mausoleum sits on the eastern bank of the Yamuna River and is often called the Baby Taj. Its exterior is covered in intricate stone inlay work and lattice screens that create the impression of a jewel box resting in the center of a four-part garden.
