Chini Ka Rauza is identified by the remnants of vibrant, glazed ceramic tiles that once covered its entire exterior, a style of decoration known in the Mughal era as kashi or chini. Situated on the eastern bank of the Yamuna River, this rectangular funerary monument contains the tomb of Allama Afzal Khan Mullah, a Persian poet and scholar who served as the Prime Minister to the Emperor Shah Jahan. Built in sixteen thirty-five, the structure is notable for its use of these colorful tiles, which led to its name.
