Mehtab Bagh is a square-shaped garden complex, recognizable by its perfect alignment with the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River. Its width matches that of the Taj Mahal complex, forming part of a series of eleven Mughal-built gardens that once lined this bank. While the first Mughal emperor, Babur, originally commissioned the garden in the early sixteenth century, it fell into disrepair and was eventually buried under mounds of sand and silt.
